Holiday

Isabella Eklöf
A small-time drug lord takes his girlfriend Sasha on holiday to Turkey, accompanied by several members of his gang. The itinerary includes shopping, waterparks, barbecues, and partying all day and night. With complete disregard for those around them, the members of the organised crime group nevertheless adhere to strict rules for communication within the group. One day, Sasha becomes acquainted with two friendly-seeming Dutch tourists.

Despite the title, the film is an extremely uncomfortable experience in the vein of Ulrich Seidl and Michael Haneke, and has cemented director Isabella Eklöf’s status as one of the most promising new talents in recent years. Holiday, which was shot in Denmark and first premiered at Sundance, is the recipient of four national Bodil Awards.
