Friends! Our first International Debut Film Festival ended four weeks ago. The format was very unusual, and none of us was ready for it. But the important thing is that we kept our word and showed you the films which rarely reach the cinema screens, our esteemed jury chose the winners, and the New Holland Island Tide Gauges with the seagulls flew all around the world. Only special screenings of the award-winning films were held on the Island, while most of the competition programme was available online on the Nonfiction.film platform. A large-scale echo of the film festival — 12 screenings — was hosted by Garage Screen, the summer cinema of the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art in Moscow. From August 14 to 28 we screened 8 features and 24 short films in competition and 9 out-of-competition films on the @nonfiction_channel platform. All proceeds from the online screenings went to the Nochlezhka charity foundation. A total of 3700 people watched the films on the Island, online and at the Garage Museum. The Grand Prix of the festival was awarded to The Cloud in Her Room by Chinese director Zheng Lu Xinyuan, and the Jury Award went to the drama Blanco en blanco by Spanish director Théo Court. The international jury also chose 3 winners of the Short Film Competition. You can watch the most memorable moments of the festival in our video.
