Round table: The realities, prospects and problems of debut films in Russia

New people come to cinema in different ways. Some, but not all, after receiving specialized education in public or private film schools, some after gaining practical experience on film sets, and some decide to devote themselves to cinema, after having worked in another profession. In all these cases, producing debut films is a risky venture for any producer. But this risk is necessary, without it there would be no new names, no films, no original authors. At the round table, with the participation of the leaders of key Russian film schools and leading producers and representatives of the Ministry of Culture, we want to discuss the problems of debut films in Russia. Problems of film education and financing of films for beginner cinematographers, the need to develop independent film schools with different approaches to education, relations between film schools and the state, the boom of regional cinema and the difficulties it faces.
